MANAUS – A control mechanism created to save energy consumption in homes and businesses, contributing to the environment, the Thomas application was developed and designed by the Amazon startup Livin’ Energy. The initiative offers resources capable of producing reports for monitoring, in real time, the weekly and monthly consumption.

“Livin’ is a startup that aims to develop initiatives in the area of energy. Our main product is Thomas, a complete solution involving both hardware and software that sits on the residential and corporate energy board. Together with the application, they make an energy monitoring in which the client can know his consumption in real time”, highlighted Synde Libório, the company’s Marketing analyst.

With the application, it is possible to know how much energy will be spent, because the initiative offers a feature that predicts the value of the electricity bill. For the mechanism to work, explains Synde Libório, it is necessary to have the installation of an energy meter with the IoT device (Internet of Things), with Wi-Fi internet network connected to a cloud infrastructure.

“Any residence or business can purchase the system. For residences, the technicians do a non-invasive and simple installation of the device, which connects to the application and starts monitoring the expense. Based on this, you can save, for example, the consumption of air conditioning,” pointed out the Marketing analyst.

Environmental impact

Livin’s marketing analyst, Luana Rosas, reinforces that the project arose from the need to have a control, in the palm of your hand, of what is consumed of energy, in real time, at home or in companies. In addition, according to her, the application comes to promote energy efficiency, which consists in the rational and sustainable use of energy and brings less impact to the environment.

“Currently, our energy supplier only provides our invoice at the end of the month, which comes with a monthly breakdown, and we don’t have a real-time notion until this invoice arrives. And Thomas offers this option so that the client can have control and become aware of their consumption, promoting energy efficiency from this”, he emphasized.

Paying attention to rates

For the accuracy of one of the main functions of the Thomas application – the price of energy expenditure – the mechanism uses data from the rates in effect at each local utility that supplies electricity. From the function, the tool is able to predict the next value of the electricity bill issued by the company.

The initiative also provides a counter of photovoltaic energy generation, i.e. solar energy, for those who have the system at home, allowing them to view the balance generated and the balance that has already been spent. In addition, Thomas enables the payment of the electricity bill within the application itself, through bank payment slip, credit card, and Pix.

Thomas was one of the tools presented at ExpoAmazônia Bio&Tic, a technology event that brought together more than 60 booths and 100 startups and moved the bioeconomic sector of the Amazon, between June 30 and July 2 this year, in Manaus.
