MANAUS – After projecting arts produced by people from Amazonas in treetops on the margins of Rio Negro, ‘Projeta Amazônia’ now plans an auction of eight works of art exhibited and produced for the project. With a date to be set, the auction will take place in April and will be held virtually. All the proceeds will be donated to an institution of the native peoples, with projects aimed at the defense and maintenance of the Amazon.

The values will be defined by bidding, and the highest bidder will keep the artwork. The project was designed by the artists Chico 1304 and Alessandro Hipz. To CENARIUM MAGAZINE, Hipz explains that “Projeta” is essential for the valorization of art, by having a bias that links culture and the defense of environmental rights.

The artists Thaísi, Mia Montreal, André Hulk, Chemie, Hadna Abreu, Adonay Garcia, Marcos Chico, and Alessandro Hipz are participating in the event.

“The curatorship, first of all, was careful about parity among the selected artists. Chico and I looked for artists with work already consolidated in the urban art scene in Manaus, and with this we arrived at the names of the participants”, said Hipz.

Besides bringing light to the artistic and environmental format, the project is also socially oriented and understands the importance of strengthening the territories of native peoples. The project has not yet defined who will receive the pile acquired from the sales, but the prioritization is for works of social relevance.

“So we are just finishing to define, but it will be some initiative in the Parque das Tribos. The auction will take place online and we will be looking for partners to be able to reach the greatest number of possible buyers”, explains the artist.

“Projeta Amazônia’

Last March 5th, aboard a boat, with a production and projection team, the ‘Projeta Amazônia’ went along the margins of Rio Negro, where it projected works on the treetops of the forest, through the projection style known as video mapping.

Alessandro tells that the participants left at 4pm in the afternoon in search of a place that met the needs for the projection and returned at 2am.

Seeking equity, diffusion, and valorization of the urban art of graffiti artists from Amazonas, ‘Projeta Amazônia’ invited eight artists to make exclusive works and to make available series already produced previously by each graffiti artist selected to compose the paintings to be projected.

With an emphasis on the forest, ‘Projeta Amazônia’ calls attention to the maintenance and preservation of the Amazon territory through this narrative. In addition to the artistic nature of ‘Projeta Amazônia’, the project also seeks to reinforce the need to engage the population in caring for the environment as a way to strengthen the Amazon protection network.

The project was contemplated by the Program Creative Culture – 2021 – Creative Amazonas Award of the Amazonas State Government – through the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.
