MANAUS – The New Year has arrived and with it new projects, goals and perspectives. In 2021, the population lived the effects of the pandemic period and even with so many damages and losses throughout the year it is possible to find stories of victories, achievements and names that can be considered promises to shine in 2022 and take the name of the Amazon to the world.

Therefore, CENARIUM made a list with 22 personalities for you to follow and be inspired this year.

1- Ademar Vieira

The journalist, screenwriter, and illustrator was a highlight in 2021 and is an excellent personality to follow in this new year. The Amazonian was nominated for the Jabuti Award in the ‘Comics’ category, with work about the indigenous leader and hero Ajuricaba.

2 – André Luiz Zogahib

The president-director of the Fundo Previdenciário do Estado do Amazonas is also a doctoral candidate in Administration at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. He is currently an assistant professor at the Amazonas State University (UEA). He has gained prominence for the awards he has collected in the institution and for 2022 he can grow even more with the 20 years of Amazonprev.

3- Christian Rocha

Jurist and activist of the black movement, he was one of the ‘heads’ of the fight that annulled the name change of the Nestor Nascimento Square, in Praça 14. Christian’s protests denounced a possible ill will on the part of councilors in proposing changes that disrespected the history of the movement in the state.

4 – Daniela Vitória

At only 12 years old, the young skater is a promise for the sport in 2022. At the beginning of this December 2021, Daniela participated in the Skate Total Turbe (STU) championship, in Rio de Janeiro, and surprised everyone with her technique, even at her young age.

5 – Elisa Maia

Singer and songwriter, Elisa has released several authorial works in recent years. In 2021, the highlight work was ‘Todo Poder Curativo’. The artist also works as a cultural producer and with artistic direction in projects of other local artists.

6 – Érico Desterro

Current president of the Court of Amazonas Auditors (TCE-AM), the counselor assumed the post this year. The highlight is the work that the court, in the person of the president, will have to do in 2022, which the institution is very necessary in the analysis of the accounts of parties and politicians. The court will issue the list of ineligible for the elections.

7- Flávio Pascarelli

Also with an eye on the electoral year and the works of the Justice institutions, the Court of Justice will guide many of the works and with this the presidency also gains evidence. Pascarelli is one of the names quoted to assume the presidency of the Court of Justice of Amazonas.

8 – Gabi Farias

Also from music, Gabi Farias is 24 years old and was born in Manaus, but grew up in Itacoatiara-AM. In the capital, the singer, songwriter and teacher has done several authorial works with powerful songs and clips. For 2022, Gabi is preparing to release her first studio album, which will be released in January.

9 – Geovana Ramos

At 21 years old, the university student is an unknown star to many Amazonians. The physics student at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) discovered 46 asteroids in an International Citizen Science project, between Iasc/Nasa and MCTI. And she is still in the first period of college.

10 – Isabela Catão

The actress from Amazonas is one of the great promises of the local scene. Isabela has received national awards and for her role in the film ‘O barco e o Rio’, by Bernardo Abinader. Besides her participation in the series ‘Aruanas’, from Rede Globo, Isa has an extensive resume in the theaters in Manaus. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Theater from the Amazonas State University (UEA).

11 – Jaiza Fraxe

The magistrate was highlighted in 2021 for her performance in extremely relevant agendas for the Amazonian society. Among them, the decision of the payment of 133 million to the indigenous people Waimiri Atroari and the strict enforcement for the purchase of vaccines by the state government.

12 – Jean Cleuter

Current president of the Amazonian Section of the Brazilian Order Association, the lawyer won after several attempts in other votes. The OAB has shown itself to be active in various subjects and always taking a position on issues pertinent to society. With this, Cleuter will have plenty of work.

13 – Jorge Lins

The judge is also one of the names strongly tipped to assume the Regional Electoral Court, in 2022. The jurist’s performance can be news. Currently, Jorge is vice-president and general corregedor of the TRE-AM.

14- Luana Aleixo

DJ and cultural producer in Manaus, ‘Luaninha’, as she is popularly known, is a local highlight. For over ten years organizing productions, Luana works not only in parties, but in projects of LGBTQIA+ representation; and, even in a reduced format and with a new outfit due to the pandemic precaution, 2022 will feature the already traditional ‘Bloco da Tereza’, in January (tickets sold out). You can also expect new DJing workshops and other projects to disseminate musical and cultural knowledge in Manaus.

15 – Marília Nunes

Born in Janauacá, the soccer player stood out last year with her passage through soccer in Minas Gerais. Marília left Iranduba and played in the Minas Gerais State Championship for Cruzeiro, scoring two goals. In addition to defending the fox, she was called for training by the Brazilian National Team.

16 – Pedro Nunes

The athlete from Parintins is a great promise of regional and even national sport. Recently, Pedro was gold in the Pan American Junior, held in Colombia. Pedro keeps training and dreams of competing in the Olympics.

17 – Rainer Figueiredo

The physiotherapist has been working at the head of the Policlínica de Codajás since 2017 and coordinating the outpatient clinic project that supports trans people in the transition process. People receive psychological, gynecological, speech therapist support and already has 300 people being attended.

18 – Samela Awiá

Amazonian was one of the most active and widespread voices in the struggles of the indigenous movement in 2021. With highlights in awards at the national level, Samela was elected activist of the year in the Geração Glamour 2021. In addition, she was one of the representatives of the North at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Scotland.

19 – Sylvio Puga

Rector of the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam) has always had a job with strong performance. For 2022, the eyes will be on Ufam with the long-awaited in-person return, after two years without classes at the institution. The recent approval of the mandatory vaccine passport should also yield strong appearances for the rector.

20 – Tatyana Amorim

Worked during the entire Covid-19 pandemic alongside Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto and, in 2021, assumed the presidency of the Health Surveillance Foundation of Amazonas. He is a specialist in hospital administration, surgical clinic, stomal therapy, hospital infection, management of clinics by the Dom Cabral Foundation (FDC) and Sírio Libanês.

21 – Tenório Telles

President of the Municipal Council of Culture (Concultura) carried out relevant work for the sector. Among the activities, he inaugurated the Indigenous Memory Village of Manaus and launched the catalog of the exhibition ‘My People: 1st Indigenous Art Exhibition of Manaus’.

22 – Vanda Ortega

Last but not least, the indigenous Witoto people’s Vanda Ortega was one of the biggest characters of the year 2021 for being the first Amazonian to be vaccinated, on January 18. However, Vanda remained in the spotlight after positioning herself several times in mobilizations and became a powerful indigenous leadership in Amazonas.
