MANAUS – The Association of Transvestites, Transsexuals and Transgenders of Amazonas (Assotram), will promote on May 21 and 22, the course entitled “TransAção- Advocacy Actions Course”, the agenda is aimed at the LGBT population and will be taught by the trans activist and president of the State Council for the Defense of Rights of the LGBTQIA+ Population, Silvia Reis.

According to the president of Assotram, Joyce Alves, the enrollments will be made while vacancies last and the classes will be held at the LGBTQIA+ shelter, Casa Miga, located in the Center of Manaus, (address not disclosed for security reasons).

“Each day will be a class and the course will be all day, starting at 9 am and ending at 4 pm with a lunch break and coffee break that we will offer at the end of the schedule”.

Adding knowledge

Joyce Alves, highlights the participation of Silvia Reis, coming straight from Roraima. For her, the presence of Silvia, who is also the coordinator of the Support Center for Transvestites and Transsexuals of the DiveRRsity Group, adds knowledge and promotes an awakening to new perspectives of activism directed to LGBTQIA+ causes.

“This is the first time that we will hold a course with this focus, and it is exactly for this, to awaken this militancy within the LGBT movement. We have always focused more on trans issues, but we know how difficult it is to be recognized and how we should carry out our activism, and this moment with Silvia will be enriching for us,” she points out.
