Bolsonaro government reduces in 76% resources transferred to the Amazon, in 2022

MANAUS – The federal government transferred to the Amazon, in the first four months of this year, R$ 752.63 million, accounting for transfers made to the state and 62 municipalities. If compared to the four-month average of 2021, which was R $ 3.20 billion, the amount is 76.50% lower, as map by location and beneficiary, available on the Transparency Portal, managed by the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU).

According to the map, of the little more than R$ 752 million transferred to Amazonas, R$ 325.87 million were transferred directly to the State Government and R$ 426.76 million, to the municipalities. Both transfers were lower, if compared to the previous year.

In 2021, the four-month average for the state was R$ 1.56 billion and for the municipalities, R$ 1.63 billion.

Other states in the Legal Amazon also showed impacts in the transfers, such as Pará and Roraima. In the case of Pará, the transfers made this year totaled R$ 1.33 billion, less than the monthly average of 2021, which was R$ 1.90 billion. In other words, three times less.

In Roraima, a state located in the extreme north of the country, the amount totaled R$ 191.35 million, from January to April this year. In 2021, the four-month average was 1.45 billion. The resources include transfers from citizen benefit programs, agreements and other agreements, contracts signed and transfers to the civil defense

Division

In Amazonas, five municipalities concentrated most of the resources received, with the capital Manaus standing out, which received R$ 114.81 million, equivalent to 26.9% of the total transferred to the municipalities. Tefé (R$ 21.06 million), Manacapuru (R$ 17.86 million), Parintins (R$ 17.29 million) and Itacoatiara (R$ 14.49 million) complete the list. The remaining 57 cities received, together, R$ 241.23 million.

The Transparency Portal integrates and presents data from various systems used by the federal government for its financial and administrative management. The data are received on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, depending on the theme, and are the responsibility of the ministries and other bodies of the Federal Executive Power, because they are the executors of government programs and responsible for managing government actions.
