BRASILIA (DF), VILHENA (RO) AND SÃO PAULO (SP) – On the morning of Tuesday the 7th, in celebration of Independence Day, supporters of the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (no party), went to the Esplanade of the Ministries for a demonstration in Brasilia. The demonstrators put up several banners in support, in English and Portuguese, of the federal government asking that the vote be respected. Cities in Rondônia and São Paulo also registered demonstrations.

With banners, demonstrators highlight that people from Portugal and Portuguese TV are lying about Jair Bolsonaro, claiming that 65% of the population “loves the president”. Supporters also demand the immediate beginning of the sanitation of the National Congress. And, with banners in English, they also state “Lula is a thief Dont trust the Brazilian left”.

Unlike previous years, the traditional celebrations of Independence Day, celebrated on Tuesday, 7, will not have the civic parades, mainly on the Esplanade of Ministries, in Brasilia. The event was canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but will have the well-known raising of the national flag at the Alvorada Palace, with the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro.

About 18 paratroopers also mark the ceremony, which landed on the site, and handed the Brazilian flag to president Jair Bolsonaro. After the National Anthem is played, there will be a 21-gun salute. The Smoke Squadron will also perform in Brasilia.

In a speech, Jair Bolsonaro highlighted the confrontation in conversation with supporters and reinforced attacks on the Supreme Court. “Our country cannot continue being held hostage by one or two people, no matter where they are. This one or two people either get on track or they will simply be ignored from public life. This is my job”, Bolsonaro said, in conversation with supporters inside the Alvorada Palace. After the speech, the president and supporters sang the National Anthem and applauded the representative.

São Paulo

In São Paulo, supporters gathered on the state’s largest avenue, known as Avenida Paulista, for a demonstration in favor of Jair Bolsonaro. With flags tied over their bodies, demonstrators sing the Brazilian Independence Anthem and wear shirts with the word “Mito” and the president’s picture. In addition, they carry flags with the phrase “Ustra Lives”.

“Where there is no enforcement of the Law, there is disorder, which is what we are living today”, state the supporters in São Paulo. The protesters took advantage of the moment to attack the Federal Supreme Court (STF). “The Supreme Court does not respect the Brazilian Constitution. The judges and prosecutors do not respect the law”, the supporters highlighted.

Rondônia

In Rondônia there were also demonstrations. In Vilhena, Bolsonaro supporters gathered in the Praça dos Três Poderes, in front of the City Hall building. Dressed in green and yellow and carrying the Brazilian flag, the demonstrators followed several sound cars. It is worth remembering that the state is governed by Colonel Marcos Rocha (PSL), one of the president’s allies.

Besides Brasilia, Rondonia and Sao Paulo, other states in Brazil also held demonstrations in favor of the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro.

Juscelino Pereira was one of the demonstrators who were on BR-364. “We are in a protest against the STF that does not let our president work. We want the STF to end. This is our demonstration. Here everyone is for Brazil and for democracy. Power emanates from the people”, he said.
