MANAUS – The capital of the State of Roraima, Boa Vista, was chosen by the Ministry of Tourism (MTur) as one of the 25 destinations considered to be trends for 2022. The city of the least populated and populated state of Brazil was cited in the special journal “Tourism Trends”, of the Tourism Market Intelligence Network (RIMT).

The data and information analyzed to prepare the magazine were collected from reports of institutions and national and international companies that work with tourism, in addition to articles from different specialized vehicles.
The publication brings a compilation of information that points out what will be in high demand among travelers this year and that can help guide the decision making process of tourism professionals and managers throughout Brazil. The city is the only Brazilian capital entirely above the Equator, with an estimated population of just over 436 thousand people in 2021, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The place is also known as the “birthplace of Macunaíma”, the “anti-hero” protagonist of the book published in 1928 by Mário de Andrade.
Besides Boa Vista, three other destinations in the North Region were highlighted: Alter do Chão and Belém, in Pará, and Jalapão State Park, in Tocantins.
