MANAUS – “I will not address regimental or legal issues because the decision of the mayor is not regimental or legal, it is a political decision. And, about it, I want to say that I would never subject myself to the indecorous proposal to shut up in relation to the attacks that President Bolsonaro has made to the Manaus Free Trade Zone to remain quietly in the presidency of the House.” The statement is from the deputy, by Amazonas, Marcelo Ramos (PSD), after being removed from the post of vice president of the House of Representatives on the afternoon of Monday, 23.

Through a video released by the advisory Marcelo Ramos, the parliamentarian classifies as “extremely sensitive”, from a democratic point of view, the president of the republic to ask for the removal of a vice president of the House, during a live, and says that “the jobs of the Amazonians, schools, the University of the State of Amazonas, the resources for the interior of the state, do not fit the vice presidency of the House”.

Ramos also points out that he will not be responsible for exposing the Legislative House and that he will not turn the episode into a war, keeping among the main objectives the defense of the Manaus Free Trade Zone. “My energies will continue to be used to defend the Manaus Free Trade Zone, to defend the 19 million Brazilians who are starving and the 13 million unemployed, the inflation that uncontrolled the price of gasoline, of cooking gas, and of energy”, emphasizes Marcelo Ramos.

Destitution

The decision of the minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), revokes the injunction he had granted in favor of Marcelo Ramos, last April. The injunction prevented the pressure made by Ramos’ former party, the PL, to act for the removal vice-presidency of the House.

The lawmaker’s departure occurred in December last year, when the party announced the affiliation of President Jair Bolsonaro. Ramos then joined the Social Democratic Party (PSD). It is worth remembering that the lawmaker is an opponent and critic of the current federal government.

“I go back to my office on the 8th floor, and I go back to the plenary of the House to fight for the greater interests of our people. I was not elected to be vice president, I was elected to defend the interests of the Amazonians and the Brazilian people, and so I will follow”, he ends.
