MANAUS – The Law 14.330/22, which includes the National Plan for Prevention and Confrontation of Violence against Women as an instrument for implementation of the National Policy for Public Safety and Social Defense (PNSPDS), has as one of its major goals to alert the population about the different types of aggression against women. The measure was sanctioned this Thursday, 5th, by the federal government.

The text is the result of Bill 4287/20, from Representative Margarete Coelho (PP-PI), and was published in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU). President Bolsonaro (PL) sanctioned the law after approval by the House of Representatives, in 2020, and by the Federal Senate, in March this year. The initiative is part of the main agenda of the “21 Days of Activism for the End of Violence against Women” campaign.

“This campaign seeks to raise public awareness about the different types of aggression against girls and women around the world. This is an annual mobilization undertaken by various actors of civil society and public power,” explained Police Station Chief Débora Mafra, head of the Specialized Crimes Against Women Police Station (DECCM), of the Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM).

Débora Mafra points out that the law regulates that the campaign for the end of violence against women must exist, in addition to making sure that other actions and thoughts are not forgotten. “Every year several events are held about this activism, which has now been normatized that this campaign has to exist. That is the major difference. Now it has become normatized so that this campaign, other actions, and thoughts are not left aside,” he stressed.

Participation

The delegate also reinforces that the law makes organs in state, municipal and Federal District levels participate in the implementation of the plan, making everyone reflect about the violence indexes whose victims are the female public. The new norm also determines the forecast of specific actions, strategies, and goals about this category of violence.

“Before, there wasn’t a norm that obliged them, and both the agencies and the departments didn’t talk about it. Now, it will have to be talked about by everyone who works in the network of confrontation and violence against women”, said the police officer.

For Débora Mafra, the initiative also raises other issues involving women, such as cases of discrimination, belittling, harassment at work and in politics, and lack of opportunity in management positions.

Violence against women

Aggression is a crime and a serious problem. Reports can be made through the numbers 181 or 180, but to register the occurrence report (BO), the victim can go, in Manaus, to one of the three DECCMs, in the neighborhoods Parque 10 de Novembro, Cidade de Deus and Colônia Oliveira Machado, respectively, in the Center-South, North and South zones of the city, or at the police station closest to the occurrence.

There is also the option of registering at the Virtual Police Station site (Devir), at the electronic address: https://delegaciavirtual.sinesp.gov.br/portal/.
