MANAUS – The Amazonian trade begins to prepare for one of the most profitable holidays in the calendar: Mother’s Day, celebrated on May 8 this year. A survey by the Instituto Fecomércio de Pesquisas Empresariais do Amazonas (IFPEAM) points out that from 308 people heard, 98% intend to buy gifts for their mothers.

Perfumes and cosmetics are the main items chosen as gifts and according to the survey, 27% of respondents intend to give these items as a present, followed by shoes (19%) and clothing (16%). In the survey, 72% of respondents see the date as an opportunity to thank their mothers for everything they have done or will do.

According to the president of Fecomércio AM, Aderson Frota, the trade needs to be aware of the impacts of price increases and customer behavior in this period. “People today are cautious, because the crises that triggered the increase in prices and compromised income, are still present in the economic scenario of commercial activity. This requires the attention of Commerce, so that it takes credit, promotions, and advantages, and stimulates the production of a positive result for the sector”, he analyzes.

Two weeks before the date, some consumers are already getting ready to go shopping. Psychologist Rayanna Frank is one of these people who is already researching and preparing the pocket for the present. “My mother is a vain woman who likes to take care of herself and always be neat and tidy, so I like to give her presents geared towards this: some pretty accessories or clothes, skin care products, makeup, body cream, a day at the salon, etc. Besides everything she is a housewife, so I give her a rest from her activities and take her to a nice coffee shop or restaurant.
