MANAUS (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), said the journalist Rosiene Carvalho, BandNews Radio Difusora, on Monday, 30, that “problems happen”, to be questioned about the assessor of the City Hall cabinet, Benae Limoeiro, have been one of the aide of the Municipal Executive contemplated in the “raffle” of the Caixa Econômica Federal to receive apartments in Residencial Manauara II – Stage B, in the north of Manaus.

Benae is an investigator for the Civil Police (PC) and was appointed by the mayor, on January 18, 2021, to the position of director of the Department of the Civil House, receiving a salary of R$ 7,2 thousand. Like her, Suellen Fernandes Rodrigues and Surreila Fernandes Rodrigues, aunts of the mayor’s daughter, student Fernanda Aryel Almeida, were benefited with the apartments. Dayane Sabrina Rodrigues de Oliveira, Aryel’s cousin, also appears in the list of those contemplated.

The case came to light on the day that the President of the Republic Jair Messias Bolsonaro (no party), an ally of the mayor, was visiting Manaus for the inauguration of the apartments, on August 18 this year. The CENARIUM report, which reported the complaint exclusively, went viral on social networks and was one of the most commented subjects on Twitter in Amazonas. According to David Almeida, all City Hall employees contemplated with the lottery were immediately exonerated.

“With regard to the City Hall servers, all were removed. This may have happened, however, we took all the necessary steps so that there were no losses and all those who are linked to the City Hall and who do not fit the income bracket, we are asking the Caixa to review these contracts and that can do exactly the exclusion of these names, as we have already done, exonerating these servers. Problems happen, but they need to be corrected immediately”, declared Almeida, to the journalist Rosiene Carvalho, a radio columnist.

The raffle took place on July 12 this year, in the current management of the Municipal Executive, but the City Hall claims that the process of selecting candidates for housing was started in late 2020. To the radio, David Almeida explained that he sent an official request to Caixa to correct the selection when the denunciation was published.

“The City Hall makes the selection of people and sends to the Caixa Econômica, which makes a draw with people who, sometimes, give their own statement of income and this is a procedure of the Caixa. When the denunciation came out, we immediately asked the Caixa to make the entire selection again and to be able to make corrections, if any”, he said.

Criteria

The apartments are financed by Caixa Econômica Federal (Caixa) and Residencial Manauara II is intended for families with incomes up to R $ 2 thousand, through the My House, My Life Program. Aryel’s aunts, Suellen and Surreila, however, have salaries of R$ 4 thousand and R$ 3,6 thousand, respectively. Besides them, Fernanda Aryel’s mother, Rosalina Fernandes Rodrigues, was one of those contemplated, even though she is stationed in the Manaus City Hall and receiving a salary of R$ 6,8 thousand.

The CENARIUM’s denunciation about irregular benefiting of Fernanda Aryel’s relatives, “raffled” to win the apartments, gained national repercussion and was exhibited in the Jornal da Cultura, on the evening of the 18th, and in the Jornal Nacional, on the evening of Friday, the 20th.
